Finding the white space
The busy summer has fallen into a settled Autumn. Back at school we are already getting ready for mid-terms. We have relaxed somewhat into our new schedule. I am teaching two classes Mindful Leadership and Sustainable Living. In both classes we are practicing paying attention. We talked this week about the value of doing nothing. How taking time to just be is actually doing something. Taking some time each day to be quiet. As a friend shared with me, it’s like the white space in a painting. The white space brings the balance. Another thing we discussed and practiced this week was mindful listening. Being a good listener is the white space for conversation.
